A previously retired hitman with a devastating reputation seeks vengeance against the men who killed his dog and left him for dead.
John Wick is certainly not a stretch of Reeves’ talents but his stoic, reserved acting style is well suited here.
Whilst Keanu rains down gunfire on useless henchman, the real star here is the directing. Dynamic camerawork, complex choreography and sharp editing keeps the action exhilarating and the audience on their toes.
If you can get past its weaknesses (i.e. Alfie Allen murdering a Yankee-Russian accent), John Wick‘s brand of explosive, cartoonish violence is bloody good fun.
